Düne, once a part of Helgoland...

Düne is one of two islands in the German North Sea Coast Area that belong to the Archipelago of Helgoland.
Untill the 17th century Düne was connected to Helgoland. In 1721 a big storm separated the dunes from Helgoland, the island that arose was called Düne.

On Düne, populations of two seal species are found and can be observed: the grey seal and the harbour or common seal.
